Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpes Virus (EEHV)

The most virulent virus with the highest mortality rate in baby elephants which is usually found in age between 0-9 years. The virus will destroy the arterial walls and spreads along with the bloodstream to various organs and then throughout the body causing a lot of internal bleeding.

The factors causing virus infection.

  • A baby elephant has a lot of stress
  • Weaning faster than normally
  • Moving elephant
  • Hard work
  • Wheather change

The infected elephant will have the symptom of depressions, not eating, and bloody diarrhea which elephants will get sick and die quickly within 24 hours. However, we have a great medical team for checking the elephant’s health regularly to prevent the deadly disease of our elephant.
